A growing Toronto law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Lawyer to join its Commercial Real Estate practice.

This role is ideal for a lawyer who is ready for greater autonomy, meaningful client contact, and a clear path toward partnership. The successful candidate will work closely with business owners, executives, investors, and other professionals, providing practical, business-focused legal advice.

This is a hands-on opportunity where you will have the opportunity to manage files independently, develop and strengthen client relationships, mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

The Work

The successful candidate will work on a broad range of commercial real estate and business-driven transactions.

Matters may include:

  • Acquisition and disposition of commercial and industrial properties.
  • Commercial real estate transactions involving privately held businesses and investors.
  • Commercial leasing and leasing strategy.
  • Real estate components of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Real estate matters arising from business sales and corporate reorganizations.
  • Borrower-side financing and refinancing transactions.
  • Property portfolio transactions.
  • Real estate matters involving corporate restructurings and reorganizations.
  • Negotiating and drafting purchase and sale agreements, leases, financing documents, and other commercial agreements.
  • Providing practical legal advice that aligns with clients' broader business objectives.

The work is varied, sophisticated, and closely connected to the real business needs of clients.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a confident, commercially minded lawyer with strong technical skills and the ability to manage matters independently.

You should be comfortable working directly with clients and providing practical, clear, and business-focused legal advice. The ability to balance legal considerations with commercial realities is essential.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 5+ years of post-call experience.
  • Strong experience in Commercial Real Estate Law.
  • Experience with commercial and industrial property transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Commercial acquisitions and dispositions.
    • Commercial leasing.
    • Corporate reorganizations.
    • Purchase and sale transactions.
    • Borrower-side refinancing.
    • Property portfolio transactions.
    • Real estate components of business sales and acquisitions.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and file-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound business judgment and a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to independently manage files and client relationships.
  • Collaborative mindset with an interest in mentoring junior lawyers.
  • Interest in business development, practice growth, and leadership.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
