A well-established law firm in Abbotsford, BC is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its team and provide legal and administrative support across a diverse range of Business, Real Estate, and Litigation matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized legal professional who enjoys working closely with lawyers and clients and is looking to build their career within a collaborative, professional law firm environment.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will support lawyers across business and real estate transactions as well as general litigation matters. You will be responsible for preparing legal documents, coordinating files, conducting research, assisting with transactions and litigation, and communicating with clients and external parties.

This is a fully on-site position, offering the opportunity to work closely with lawyers and other legal professionals on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and administrative support to lawyers across business, real estate, and litigation matters.
  • Prepare, draft, format, and organize legal documents and correspondence.
  • Assist with business transactions, acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and related matters.
  • Support residential and commercial real estate transactions and conveyancing matters.
  • Assist with due diligence and review relevant transactional documentation.
  • Prepare and organize agreements, contracts, conveyancing documents, and closing materials.
  • Assist with general litigation matters and preparation of court materials.
  • Prepare and organize pleadings, applications, court forms, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal and transactional research as required.
  • Review, summarize, and organize legal and factual documents.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical files.
  • Manage calendars, deadlines, and important dates.
  • Coordinate communications with clients, courts, opposing counsel, government offices, and other third parties.
  • Assist lawyers with file preparation and matter management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with professional and firm standards.
  • Perform other legal and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal diploma, certificate, or equivalent education and legal experience.
  • Experience working in a law firm environment.
  • Knowledge or experience in business law, real estate law, and/or litigation.
  • Strong legal document preparation skills.
  • Experience preparing contracts, conveyancing documents, court forms, and legal correspondence.
  • Strong legal research and document-review abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple files, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice-management software.
  • Strong client-service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented Paralegal who is comfortable working across multiple practice areas.

You should enjoy taking ownership of your work, managing competing deadlines, communicating with clients and external parties, and supporting lawyers with both transactional and litigation matters.

Experience with business transactions, real estate/conveyancing, or general litigation will be considered an asset.
