A boutique commercial real estate law firm in Vancouver, BC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Trust Accounting Clerk to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who has experience working in a law firm or professional services environment and is looking to join a collaborative, supportive, and professional team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in managing the firm's trust accounting functions, supporting real estate transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with applicable Law Society requirements.

The Opportunity

The Trust Accounting Clerk will work closely with the accounting and legal teams and will be responsible for a variety of trust accounting and general accounting functions.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with a high volume of transactions while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process a high volume of trust cheques and deposits.
  • Maintain and administer investment accounts with major financial institutions.
  • Support real estate closings, payouts, and related financial transactions.
  • Prepare and process wire and EFT payments and transfers.
  • Complete monthly trust bank reconciliations.
  • Track and prepare quarterly TAF remittance reporting.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper financial records.
  • Ensure accounting procedures comply with firm policies and internal controls.
  • Assist with trust accounting audits and related documentation as required.
  • Support the accounting team with various projects and departmental initiatives.
  • Assist with other accounting and financial administration duties as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling client and firm financial information.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ year of accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Understanding of legal trust accounting principles and Law Society requirements.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting procedures.
  • Experience with Soluno is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong technical and data-entry skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized and methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional and collaborative approach.
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as the role develops.
