A growing law firm in Kelowna, British Columbia is seeking an ambitious Commercial Litigation Associate to join its litigation team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with 2–4 years of post-call experience who has a strong interest in commercial litigation and is looking to build a long-term practice in the Okanagan Valley.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will work on sophisticated commercial litigation matters and have the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility while developing their practice.

The firm has a strong reputation for client service, innovative approaches to solving complex legal issues, and developing talented litigators. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced lawyers and have exposure to a broad range of litigation matters.

This role is particularly well suited to a motivated litigator who wants to build a practice in the Okanagan and contribute to the continued growth and reputation of a respected litigation practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
• Draft pleadings, applications, affidavits, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Prepare for and participate in examinations for discovery, mediations, applications, and hearings.
• Represent clients before the courts and other dispute-resolution forums.
• Assist with complex commercial disputes and business-related litigation.
• Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, strategic legal advice.
• Work collaboratively with senior lawyers and other members of the litigation team.
• Manage deadlines, files, and competing priorities effectively.
• Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the firm's commercial litigation practice.
• Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of post-call experience.
• Strong interest and experience in Commercial Litigation.
• Strong academic performance and law school grades.
• Excellent legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Strong advocacy and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage files and work independently while benefiting from mentorship and collaboration.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Sound judgment and a client-focused approach.
• High level of initiative, motivation, and interest in developing a legal practice.
• Must be called to the British Columbia Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
