Family Law Clerk
100% Remote | Ontario | 1–3 Years of Experience
A growing Ontario law firm is seeking a Family Law Clerk to join its team on a 100% remote basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Family Law Clerk with 1–3 years of experience who is looking to continue developing their skills within a supportive, collaborative, and professional legal environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with Family Law lawyers and clients, assisting with file management, document preparation, court filings, and day-to-day administration of Family Law matters.
The Opportunity
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow their career in Family Law.
You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of Family Law matters while working directly with experienced lawyers and supporting files from intake through resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers with the management of Family Law files from intake through resolution.
- Prepare, draft, format, and revise legal correspondence and documents.
- Assist with preparing pleadings, court forms, affidavits, financial statements, briefs, and other Family Law documents.
- Prepare and organize documents for court filings and hearings.
- Assist with electronic filing and service of court documents.
- Monitor limitation dates, court deadlines, and other important dates.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic client files.
- Coordinate meetings, examinations, mediations, conferences, and hearings.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other legal professionals.
- Assist lawyers with trial and hearing preparation.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Maintain lawyer calendars and file management systems.
- Conduct basic administrative and clerical tasks related to Family Law files.
- Assist with document organization, disclosure, and file preparation.
- Perform other duties as required to support the Family Law team.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of Family Law Clerk or Legal Assistant experience.
- Previous experience working in an Ontario Family Law practice.
- Familiarity with Ontario Family Law procedures and court processes.
- Experience with Family Law forms, pleadings, financial statements, affidavits, and court documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple files and competing deadlines.
- Professional and client-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with legal practice management or document management software is an asset.
Ideal Candidate

You should be comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player. Since this is a fully remote position, strong communication, organization, accountability, and time-management skills are particularly important.
